Fitzel will not take Malta team coach job

MFA President Norman Darmanin Demajo said this afternoon that Dusan Fitzel has decided to continue working for the Czech FA and will therefore not return to his old job as Malta national team coach.

Fitzel was asked if he was interested in returning as Malta coach and although he was keen to return, he told Bjorn Vassallo, the MFA CEO, that he was staying put to see through the initiatives he's taking to boost Czech football.

Coaches who have applied for the Malta job include Antonio Cabrini, Francesco Graziani, Giancarlo Camolese, Sammy Lee and Marius Lacatus,

It's time to give Ray 'zazu' Farrugia his deserved change.

Why? Why should it make any difference what size we are, how many residents we are and how much money we can splash?

What does it take to have a litle dedication to a sport instead of looking at the money and facilities? A little love and respect for the sport coupled with dedication and determination have seen poorer nations make leaps and bounds in international football whereas we are still shite. Maybe we need to change our attitude instead of changing coaches.

Of course size and number of residents makes a whole lot of difference. It makes ALL the difference in the world in fact. We don't even have enough decent Maltese players to make the grade in our miserable premier league, as we have to import a ship-load of mercenaries to make the league interesting and competitive (by Maltese standards of course). So we can have all the dedication in the world, the best facilities in existence and even the best coach in the world and we'll still be losing matches, playing mediocre "football" and only getting a good result once in a blue moon to keep our hopes from drowning completely.
