An orphanage in Uganda will no longer have to deal with regular power cuts and high bills following the installation of a photovoltaic grid sponsored by Rotary Club Malta.

The mini photovoltaic electrical system costs €60,000.

It is being installed at the Kids of Africa orphanage, which houses nearly 100 children. Five years ago the Rotary Club donated solar panels for five new houses at the orphanage.

The equipment was purchased by Rotary Club Malta through funds from the government’s commitment under the Copenhagen Accord, reached during the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference in December 2009.
