Businesses flock to Arab language course

An introductory course to the Arabic language, aimed at assisting entrepreneurs doing business in Arab-speaking countries, has had an “overwhelming” response.

The course is sponsored by Malta Enterprise and takes place at the Kordin Business Incubation Centre. It is being delivered by the consular officer at the Tunisian Embassy in Malta, Naim Dhifi, who also assisted Malta Enterprise in the development of its structure. The idea to organise a practical introductory course to the Arabic language was first floated during the Libyan crisis to help entrepreneurs targeting the market during a lull in Libyan business.

“However, as the entire North African region is now offering a multitude of opportunities as a result of the Arab Spring, the idea was developed and its perimeters broadened to include all those wishing to do business in this region,” Malta Enterprise said.

The course complements on-the-ground assistance in Libya through Malta Enterprise’s commercial office in Tripoli, as well as the organisation of business delegations.

Since it has been oversubscribed, Malta Enterprise may organise the course again.
