In the manner of a seasoned campaigner Lawrence Gonzi has chosen to soldier on while he puts his own house in order.

He may well succeed to bring his errant junior member to heel, or more spectacularly to make him see the waywardness of his conduct and induce him to return to the fold or else resign his seat in Parliament.

This may seem far fetched but Dr Gonzi has succeded in the past to the surprise of many a hoary pundit. He may yet pull it off.

Meanwhile, the march of time will bring us to the end of the appointed term and the threshold of the awaited general election.

It will then be for the people to decide where to place their fiduċja.
