Trade relations between Malta and Tunisia have improved considerably as imports from that country increased by 41 per cent while exports amounted to €7.8 million last year.

A number of business delegations visited Tunisia and a joint Tunisio-Maltese Business Council was set up, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said. Although security measures kept the Maltese Embassy in Tunisia back from organising social events last year, this year a number of cultural events are being planned including a conference on Ghana and a presentation of a book on Maltese emigrants in Tunisia.

Also, a three-year programme of cultural exchanges between Malta and Tunisia will start this year.
