Robert Abela, while addressing the Labour Party conference, said that the difference between the Nationalist and Labour parties is that the Nationalist Party wants power for a small clique while the PL wants power to do good. He also added that the government has assumed the divine right to power offering nothing new but 20 years of the same faces.
Surely all this sounds odd to many, coming from a person whose father was made head of state by GonziPN at the risk of disappointing one of the PN’s heavyweights. This is the highest appointment giving them the run of San Anton Palace and Verdala Castle with their retinues of servants and other amenities.
Again one cannot understand how Dr Abela can criticise the PN for having 20 years of the same faces when Joseph Muscat has surrounded himself with old timers with their dirty past, while the cabinet of Ministers are all relatively newcomers.
One would expect Dr Abela to show more prudence and correctness in his speech at least in respect to his father, the President of Malta.
Yet like all Labourites Dr Abela has the effrontery to complain and find faults.
