Obituary

ATTARD. On January 27, at Mater Dei Hospital, LUIGI of Qormi, aged 86, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sons Francis and his wife Rita and Henry and his wife Anna, his grandchildren Mark, Maria, Patrick, Ryan, George and Kristy, his sister, their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 12.45 p.m. for St George’s parish church, Qormi, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 1.30 p.m., followed by interment at Qormi cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

DIFESA. On January 26, at Mater Dei Hospital, CARMELO, aged 81, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brother Anthony in Australia, his brother Eddie and his wife Mary, his sister Connie and her husband Charles Caruana and Frances Difesa, widow of his brother France, nephews and nieces, grand nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. A Mass to thank God for his life and for the repose of his soul will be celebrated tomorrow at 7 p.m. at St Augustine parish church (St Rita), Valletta. No flowers by request but prayers and donations to charitable organisations will be appreciated. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Marina Palace Home, Msida, for their care and dedication. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GALEA. On January 27, at Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital, LORENZO of Dingli, aged 86, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Maria Lourdes, née Bonello, his children Mario and his wife Miriam, Joe and his wife Joyce, Lycia and her husband Noel Calleja, Michael and his wife Claire, Tonio and his wife Donatella, his grandchildren Thomas, Sandro, Claudia and her husband Kenneth Camilleri, Matthew, Martina, Stephanie, Mark, Giancarlo, Natalie, Adrian, Lucas and Rihanna, their fiancés, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital today at 2.30 p.m. for Dingli parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Dingli Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GAUCI. On January 26, at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, ANTHONY of Mellieħa, aged 80, passed away peacefully to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his sad loss his beloved wife Lily, with whom he worked for the benefit of families within GRUFAN and ICCFM. He will be missed by his treasured children, Marie Louise, Anne Marie and her husband Joseph Tabone, Arthur and his wife Maria, Helen and her husband Ken McClay, David and his wife Shirley-Ann, his brothers and sisters, Liela Debono and Karmnu (both of Australia), Rita and Nazzarena and their respective families. Nannu Ninu will be missed by his dearest grandchildren, nephews and nieces other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.45 p.m. to St Anne Street, Mellieħa, where the funeral cortège accompanied by La Vittoria Band will start at 2.30 p.m. to Maria Bambina parish church for Mass præsente cadavere at 3.30 p.m. followed by interment at Sultana tal-Vittorji Cemetery, Mellieħa.Donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, would be greatly appreciated. Special thanks to all the staff at the palliative ward at Boffa Hospital for their dedication and care. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

SANT. On January 27, LOUISE, née Sammut, of Attard, aged 61, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church, after a long illness bravely borne with great determination and Christian fortitude. She leaves to mourn her great loss her husband Mario, her children Antoniella and her husband Kurt, Paulette, Alan-Mario and his wife Claire, Josef and his fiancée Daphne, her adored grandsons Isaac and Nathan, her mother Maria Pia, her brothers Victor and Fr Pius Sammut, her sister Michelle, in-laws and their respective spouses and their families, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said on January 30 at 3 p.m. at St Theresa Sanctuary, Birkirkara, followed by interment at Mosta cemetery.

Requiem Masses

On the seventh anniversary of the death of Fr CHARLES CARUANA, SJ, a Mass for the repose of his soul will be celebrated today at 6.15 p.m. at St Aloysius College, Birkirkara. The attendance of relatives and friends will be greatly appreciated. Today the second anniversary of the demise of MURIEL GANADO, a Mass for the repose of her soul will be said at 6.30 p.m. at Sarria church, Floriana. Fondly remembered by us all.
