Property valued at €500,000 in all is being passed on to five sports associations by the government.

The contracts on five pieces of land were tabled in Parliament this week, taking the number of associations that enjoy public property, valued at almost €47 million, up to 115.

The sports associations include the Malta Motorsport Federation, the Rinella Tennis Club, and the Birkirkara, Sta Venera and Fgura Boċċi Clubs.

The transfer of these properties put the associations under the obligation to make the best use of the public resources they were given in the interest of the sports community and the Maltese, said Sports Parliamentary Secretary Clyde Puli.
