Now that the government has reached an agreement with Go plc over the disputed large stretch of land in Qawra, I hope that the last thing the government does will be to sell it for development into more vacant residential apartments.

This is something that Buġibba desperately does not need. What Buġibba needs, however, are more large hotels to make up for the loss of hotel beds over the last decade.

I believe it would make far more economic sense for the government to sell this land, even if at a lower price than the market dictates, with the sole intention that it be developed into hotels and accommodation for tourists.

This, in turn, would give a boost to the many small businesses in Buġibba and surrounding areas.
