Obiefule strike sinks Qormi

Mosta maintained their recent revival when yesterday they beat Qormi to move away from the bottom places in the BOV Premier League standings.

The Blues grabbed the all-important goal on 18 minutes when Jonathan Bajada raced clear on the right before sending a teasing cross into the path of Obinna Obiefule who dived full stretch to head the ball past Qormi goalkeeper Steve Sultana.

Qormi were stung by the setback and struggled to mount a fightback. Their best chances came in the second half with Matthew Bartolo twice forcing vital saves from Mosta goalkeeper Jonathan Debono.

The Mosta no.1 saved the result for his team in time added on when he tipped over the bar Triston Caruana's curling drive.

Obinna Obiefule was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
