Obituary
SAMMUT. On January 25, CARMELINA, aged 84, passed away peacefully to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved sister Philomina and husband Joe, her brother Joe and wife Gisela, her nieces and nephews, Doreen, Audrey, Brigitte, Herbert, Jeffrey, Markus and Patrick, their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 3 p.m. for Mosta parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 3.30 p.m., followed by interment at Mosta cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
VELLA CRITIEN. On January 25, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARITA, aged 81, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved husband Aldo and her children Marianne and Stephen, Ida and Joseph, Irene, widow of John, Joseph, Angela and Daniel, Jacqueline and Lino, Paul and Pauline, Tania and Gerald, and Victor, her dear grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially all the brethren of the neocathecumenal communities and friends. The funeral Mass will be said tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes parish church, San Ġwann, followed by interment at Mosta cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest. Special thanks to all the medical staff at Mater Dei Hospital for their attention and care.

New chair of Labour foundation
Carmen Sammut has been appointed chairman of Fondazzjoni Ideat by the Labour Party, while its National Executive has reappointed Lydia Abela as secretary, as well as officials Rachel Tua, Salvu Seychell and Joe Cordina.
Dr Sammut is a university lecturer, author of academic publications and involved in media as a news analyst and presenter. Active in civil society, including women’s rights groups, she is replacing Aaron Farrugia, who is now working on the PL’s electoral programme.
