Former singer Tristan B was yesterday jailed for three years and six months after he admitted to defrauding a businessman of some €9,000 last April.
The fraudster is serving a nine-month term after he tricked a man he met in hospital by convincing him he needed money for an urgent operation.
Emanuel Balzan, alias Tristan B, 32, from Rabat, pleaded guilty to defrauding Andrew Abela by enticing him to invest in a bogus construction deal.
He told Mr Abela that for the deal to get going he needed to settle two or three outstanding bills with Enemalta and the VAT Department.
Mr Balzan appealed from the judgement.
