For some reason, this notion that there are hate campaigns going around has gained currency, helped not a little by the characterisation of the reaction in the blogosphere to Ms Grace Borg's candidature with the MLP.

I should say non-candidature, because no sooner had the good lady announced her intentions, than she pulled put, citing the reaction aforementioned.  I have my own thoughts as to why Ms Borg found herself forced to pull a u-ie, thoughts which involve analysing where second thoughts were suddenly had, but that's by the by.

The reaction mentioned, for anyone not already mesmerised by the MLP's Lil'Elves getting all weepy every time someone has the temerity to pull their legs ever so slightly, was not a hate campaign.  If anything, it was an "oh for pity's sake tell me you're joking campaign", but it seems that so precious are the players on the MLP's side that any mention of them is an indicator that the world hates them.

Poor lambs, when we poke fun at people like Ms Borg and her talons, not to mention her exuberant personality and her scant credentials to represent the people, this is just part of the rough and tumble of the political game.  Do people like Ms Borg, who appears to take such enormous gratification from exposing herself on the box at the drop of a hat, think that they can put themselves forward for judgement by the people and then receive only blind adulation?

Real hate, dear Lil'Elves, is when you post comments making thinly veiled threats and crass insinuations against anyone who holds an opinion that is even less than complimentary of the MLP and all its works.  That is what the country went through when Mintoff, brought back to haunt us in the form of his wooly-headed daughter, ruled the roost, but this ain't then no more, folks, and you'd better get used to it.

So do please stop running crying to uncle every time someone is nasty to you, it's only evidence of childishness on your part, especially when much worse is coming from you.
