Gozitans can start to benefit from a new social service, Home-Start Gozo, which is aimed at giving the required support to vulnerable families experiencing problems.
The project has been extended to the sister island with the collaboration of the Gozo Ministry, Dar Ġużeppa Debono, which helps single mothers and fathers, and Aġenzija Appoġġ.
The hardship includes illness, mental health problems, poor upbringing
Home-Start targets families in difficulty that have at least one child under the age of five. The hardship includes illness, mental health problems, loneliness and poor upbringing skills among others. Parents are also helped to get more involved in their children’s development. The help varies from emotional to practical support and is aimed at strengthening social conditions, Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono said.
The ministry is granting over €20,000 a year for three years to Dar Gużeppa Debono, which is leading the project guided by Home-Start Malta and Appoġġ.
