The Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana, will welcome the Chinese New Year this evening with an Asian-themed buffet dinner and fireworks display.
The celebratory buffet dinner will begin at 8 p.m. It is priced at €35 for adults and €17.50 for children between the ages of six and 11.
The fireworks display is scheduled to start at 10 p.m.
Last Monday, the hotel decorated its lobby with Chinese decorations and an eight-metre dragon that came all the way from China.
The Chinese New Year, better known in China as the Spring Festival, is a time to welcome longevity, wealth and prosperity and to leave behind any negative events from the past.
In Chinese tradition, each year is dedicated to one of 12 animals, and 2012 is the Year of the Dragon. People born in the Year of the Dragon are supposed to have natural charisma and are certainly gifted with power and luck.
