An evening of chamber music will be held at the Manoel Theatre on Tuesday at 8 p.m. The concert features double-bass player Gjorgji Cincievski and pianist Rosetta De Battista and guest violinist Marcelline Agius.

The concert will begin with Invocation by Czech composer Miroslav Gajdoš, continues with Schubert’s Sonata in A minor for arpeggione and piano, arranged by Stuart Sankey for double-bass and piano.

Sankey also made a similar arrangement for the next work on the programme. This is Paganini’s Introduction and variations on the violin G string of Rossini’s Dal Tuo Stellato Soglio from the opera Mosè in Egitto.

The recital continues with Intermezzo Op. 9 N.1 by Russian composer Reinhold Glière and two arrangements for double-bass and piano by Cincievski. These are Schumann’s Drei Fantasiestücke for clarinet and piano, Op. 73 and Elegy Op. 3, N. 1 by Rachmaninoff.

The concert ends with Agius in Bottesini’s brilliant Grande Duo Concertante for double-bass, violin and piano.
