I refer to Kurt Mifsud’s letter Costly Charity (January 7). Mr Mifsud does not indicate what organisation this group of bikers belong to but from his reference to “another huge fee to register as an NGO” it is assumed that it is an enrolled voluntary organisation.
To be precise, the “huge fee” is a one-time fee of €40, which the Office for Voluntary Organisations charges to cover the enrolment and all other subsequent costs throughout enrolment. The commissioner is writing to the Association of Local Councils to bring to its attention the letter of Mr Mifsud and to ask for its reactions.
