A cultural event in Brussels was this week held in honour of the Maltese writer Immanuel Mifsud, put on by the permanent representation of Malta for the EU and the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts Maltese.

Mr Mifsud read a short excerpt in Maltese of his winning book Fl-Isem tal-Missier (u tal-Iben) (In the name of the Father and the Son) and was afterwards awarded a trophy by Polish Culture Minister Bogdan Zdrojewski and Parliamentary Secretary Mario de Marco.

Mr Mifsud was one of 12 European authors who were awarded the 2011 EU Prize for Literature (EUPL) in Brussels in November.
