US embassy denies ‘Malta troops’ claim

The US Embassy has denied claims made by a former US Congresswoman that thousands of American troops were in Malta waiting to go to Libya.

“The US Embassy reiterates the Maltese government’s statement categorically denying claims that there are US troops in Malta,” it said in a one-line statement. The claims were made earlier this week by Cynthia McKinney, a peace activist and a former US Presidential nominee for the Green Party, on her blog under the headline: Why Is President Obama Sending 12,000 US Troops To Libya?

Do you really believe that there are 12,000 troops in Ta' Qali Mr Caruana. Do you think that in tiny Malta with only one airport and one main port 12,000 troops can come to Malta without anyone noticing? Get real!

What compound? I really think that 12 000 US troops suddenly arriving in Malta would be noticed!
