New car park

We believe the Malta Environment and Planning Authority should withhold the permit for the development of a car park at Floriana, adjacent the Floriana football ground.

Floriana is already full of parking facilities. It would be better if the park and ride system were run successfully.

The problem of traffic congestion, pollution and lack of open spaces in urban areas are all attributed to the wrong policies that promote the use of private cars more.

It will make more sense if Transport Malta worked together with Mepa and the health sector to implement a national plan to better promote the use of public transport, more open spaces, planting of trees and, more importantly, the reduction of carbon dioxide and air pollution.
