Readers of The Times might be interested to know that Malta, Bermuda and Gibraltar were the only three countries that received a good number of red telephone boxes from the British government.

Yet, what do we do? We just neglect and disregard them as if they were objects of no importance.

A case in point are the two red telephone boxes in Balluta square, St Julians and in Sliema in the Tlett Siġriet area.

Both are without doors and have broken glass panes with pieces of glass scattered all over the floor.

I appeal to the telephone company responsible for these red telephone boxes to consider restoring them and start maintaning these precious red kiosks that date back to the 1920s.

I am prepared, on behalf of the City of London Bar, to maintain the one at Balluta Square, the same way as big Maltese companies are entrusted to continue looking after public gardens, playing fields etc.
