All the white and rosé QWPSR wines submitted by Delicata for IGT and DOK classification from the 2011 vintage have been given approval.

The wines classified as QWPSR (quality wine produced in a specific region) have to go through a number of analytical tests both in Malta and in Italy, also have to be approved by an Italian tasting panel in Siena.

The white and rosé DOK wines and the IGT wines are always the first to be submitted. Hopefully, the red DOK wines will be given approval by the end of January. Now that approval has been received, labelling can proceed and the wines can be bottled and released onto the market.

I am sure this is good news for lovers of Delicata’s Sauvignon Blanc wines which have been sold out since October last year.

Delicata’s two IGT ranges Pjazza Regina and Maltese Falcon consisting of six wines have all been classified.

So too have six DOK Malta wines from the Medina range, two DOK Gozo Victoria Heights wines and three DOK wines from the two premium wine brands Grand Vin de Hauteville and Gran Cavalier.

The only remaining Delicata wines awaiting QWPSR approval, which have yet to be tasted, are the winemakers’ red DOK wines from Malta and Gozo and wines that will need to spend a length of time in barrel to mature.
