Microsoft Malta launched five new awards to recognise and reward the achievements of local Microsoft partners and customers who show the best effort in developing their partnership engagement with Microsoft Malta through their application of Microsoft tools and technology for more growth and also the most innovative utilisation of Microsoft solutions within enterprise.

The five awards are the Partner of the Year Award, Innovation in the Enterprise Award, Partner in SMB (small and medium-sized businesses) Award, Retail Partner of the Year Award and Sales Person of the Year Award. These were announced by Adrianna Zammit, country manager of Microsoft Malta, for the first time during a networking meeting hosted at Palazzo De Piro in Mdina.

“Microsoft Malta is committed to nurture the ongoing strong synergies that already exist with local partners who like Microsoft, believe that today’s technology has the power to transform lives for the better,” Ms Zammit said in her address.

“We help our clients get better business results, by helping them to gather better data and turn it into better insight, for them to take advantage of new opportunities in media and technology, enabling them to thrive and support a healthy software ecosystem.”

Referring to Microsoft Malta’s local operations, she noted how many business organisations still do not realise what the full potential of their IT platform is and that much of this potential is still untapped. “In our role here in Malta, we have to ensure that customers are realising the value of their investments by helping them deploy our technologies as efficiently and effectively as possible. We seek to increase the customer experience through structured engagements with a special focus on helping customers understand the ‘cloud’, what their options are what transition opportunities exist for them.”

One of Microsoft Malta’s main priorities is cloud technology, where computing power is offered through internet instead of businesses having to buy their own computer servers. In this regard, Microsoft is currently focusing on four main strategic solutions, namely virtualisation, customer relationship management, unified communications and hosted cloud services.

Microsoft is also engaging in a number of activities through an awareness campaign that seeks to highlight the risks of mis-licensed software whilst promoting the importance of adopting genuine software.

Over the next months, Microsoft Malta is going to host a number of joint partner events and also launch Office 365 and a number of hosting offerings through hosting partners. Office 365 trials are now available.

Systec won the Partner of the Year Award for an impressive year on year growth over two consecutive years in terms of Microsoft related revenue, across various Microsoft business segments and for its strategic partnership engagement with Microsoft Malta on Microsoft’s virtualisation technology.

The Innovation in the Enterprise Award went to APS Bank’s IT team in recognition for the successful delivery of three key projects focused on helping the bank create exceptional customer experiences and simplify internal business processes. Kinetix was awarded with the Partner in SMB Award for a number of Core Infrastructure Optimisation initiatives with their existing SMB customers, upgrading them to up-to-date and introducing newer technologies such as Microsoft virtualisation in SMBs.

The Sales Person of the Year Award went to Reuben Caruana for continuously communicating Microsoft’s core value messages throughout his communication with customers whereas the Retail Partner Award went to Forestals based on the company’s drive and commitment to completing an array of Microsoft licensing training as well as placing increased importance on the sales development of its retail sales people.

“At Microsoft our mission and values are to help people and businesses throughout the world realise the full potential and become what’s next. Our local mission is to ‘Enable the Smallest Country for the Greatest Impact’. We believe that technology has the power to transform lives for the better and Microsoft is constantly seeking ways to have this transformative impact in helping address the country’s most difficult challenges.

“Besides supporting and rewarding major players in the industry, we also support technology start-ups in an effort to drive the local software industry to create economic opportunities and address national priorities. Microsoft also provides the tools and products that broaden access to technology, build local skills capacity and enable new businesses to thrive and support a healthy software ecosystem,” concluded the country manager at Microsoft Malta.
