Paceville revamp launched
A three-month project which will see a revamp of the heart of Paceville was launched today by Resources Minister George Pullicino and Tourism Minister Mario de Marco.
The project will see resurfacing of Triq San Ġorġ, Triq Wilġa and part of Triq Dragonara. Pavements will be removed, and the road will be separated from the pedestrian areas by bollards. New street furniture will be installed.
The project has been timed for the first part of the year in order to cause minimal disruption. The authorities are ensuring that access remains open to all outlets.

Some comments below show that some people are selfish and just dont care about the hotels that employs hundreds of people and generate our economy... Well done for the work.

Anthony Pace Gouder reading your comments make me think that you are Renzo Piano. Do you think that these things have not been taken care off!

Eliminating PAVEMENTS means that water flowing out from buildings' roofs and yards, that presantly is buried under pavements and (normally) outflows at the curb (fil kurduna tal-bankina) without any inconvienience to pedestrians but onto the street proper, will now discharge directly and flows uncontrolled along in front of house doors and businesses ,shops, restaurants' entrances.
Proper falls , especially in Wilga Street which is on an incline, for the immediate channelling of rain water into a system of culverts, has to be provided otherwise after every heavy downpour it would be impossible to walk the streets .

Why don't they start by re-vamping the clubs which produce and influence young people today? What kind of message do all those 'Gentleman's Clubs' give to young men and women? I'm sure there are no 'gentlemen' involved in there at all!!
Close down all those trashy places which do nothing but give the message that girls need to be cheap and semi-naked to attract the opposite sex, and that all guys want is nudity and wantonness from women! There are plenty of other decent venues and discoes in Paceville! We don't need 6 or 7 strip clubs to encourage tourism!! After that re-vamp, I will be all in favor of 'street furniture'!!

While they're at this REVAMP II ,surely not for the surviving residents , but to attract more visitors to an Area where buisnesses mostly flourishes on Alcohol, or better still the old saying '' WINE-WOMEN & SONG'.
I suggest the Honorables change the NAME to 'Babelonia' which is more fitting .

Well done for this project. Good that all stakeholders were consulted before the project began so that problems encountered in other projects will not be experienced again.

These projects around Malta have been going on for the last three years. Now some want to say that they are being done becuase of the election. The election was never to be held at this stage. How come some people now want to say otherwise.

Considering all the hotels in the region, such project will for sure be beneficial to support the tourism industry.

I assume we shall also have plenty of CCTV's installed - or will this be conveniently sidelined by the 'profits first, and don't upset the club owners' mentality in Malta

Sorry to say but I dont pity those who get injured in paceville . First and foremost the mature people know that paceville is not a place for entertainment but its a place full with wanne be ``fighters`` , drugs and alcohol , 14 year olds allowed in clubs with the lingerie visible , policeman acting like typical policemen dont do anything and smoke in clubs and get free drinks . If you want paceville thas some day will be a local attraction for those who are aged 21 and over you need to demolish the piece of crap place and yet build cafes , lounges and a decent discotheque . I dont have to go to paceville to have fun or to have a drink . I go to a decent bar have a drink and chat and thats simply . If you want the mature people to go there do a strict 21+ ban with a heft fine and a possible club close down if people under that age are allowed in . With all those certain students around in summer pretending to come to Malta to learn English which all they do is learn how to fight with locals . Foreign students are to blamed for the vandalism in summer let alone in swieqi where they destroy public property . And needless to say how come under 17+ foreigners are allowed in bars ??? Are they special and please dont state that they dont consume alcohol cause all of them do . So my conclusion is that Paceville doesnt need new pavement it needs new attraction . Sorry to say but the pavement wont attract me and neither will others !

...and we needed two ministers to inaugurate the laying of flag stones or whatever the refurbishing will be.
.
Not surprised when one remembers a toilet in Valletta being inaugurated with the same splendour.

St Georges Road, the narrow one way section leading to Burger King needs to be completely pedestrianised. Often taxis drive the wrong way along this road even when police are present at the other end at Burger King.
Pedestrianise it and close it off with PERMANENT bollards at either end. Shops along the street can have their good deleivered by using trollleys/barrows from delivery vehicles at either end.

Does everyone remember that these streets and pavements in this Paceville area was done all new with a huge spendings only few years ago?
We all know that these Streets and Pavement who are again completely damaged but these damages was not commited by the trespasser... Those who live nearby or those who works and who be in this area know well why and how all these pavement got to this state ,that had to be done again.
Hope at least now those who responsable will make sure that these pavement won,t again be damaged with the same manners.

Tajba din ohra, ''la storia si repete''! Din mhux hawn biss tigri fejn ikunu saru xogholijiet ta' tisbih , u wara xi erba snin jergghu jaqalghu kollox mill-gdid . P'ville kien tlesta ! U SUPPOST IRRIDU NAQQSU L-ISPIZA TAL-BUDGIT.
Ma nafx x'inhu dan il-Genn li toghom dan l-ahhar ghall-Paceville, Issema ukoll li ser jinhatar AMMINISTRATUR SPECJALI TA'Paceville ( haga gdida ghall-Malta dan.........xi tip ta Gvernatur)
Imsieken il-ftit RESIDENTI li fadal. Kumbinazzjoni qalu xoghol ta tlett xhur, biss . Jidher li dan li qed isir biex jigbdu aktar vizitaturi lejn Paceville,u dan tafu x'ifisser .
Kemm saru moda il-bollards ! Ikollhom iktar f'hiex jitgerbu L-AKTAR dawk li jkunu fis-Sakra. u minn ma jindunax facli jaqla daqqa u jattan il-bieba tal-karozza, jew jolqot il-bumpers maghhom.
Il-Ministru DeMarco zgur ma jafx il-KONSEGWENZI U L-INKONVENJENZA li jjsofru ir-residenti tal-post u tal-madwar kawza ta' dan il-post bl-isem li sar ma jixraqlu xejn ''Paceville'.
Ahjar flok dan l-infieq zejjed , jaraw kif izidu is-sorvelljanza , l-aktar matul il-lejl , biex jieqaf l-istorbju u l-hsarat li qed insofru l-aktar mill-vizitaturi barranin !

yes if i remember correctly these were done just before the last election. To do these roads just after four years is pure waste of money and if they are in a bad state it means that they were not done well originally which still implies waste of money.
The earlier Malta gets rid of this government the better for us and for future generations.

On rainy days like these, you remember why pavements were invented in the first place. Doesn't anybody, who dreams up these things, have this thing called "common sense"?

Your priorities are wrong Mark. cameras should be installed to catch criminals in the form of security personnel beating up innocent people outside the premmises.
