Westley: Graham Westley has been appointed as the new manager of Preston. The League One club yesterday confirmed the 43-year-old as successor to Phil Brown.
Rhodes: West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has written off his chances of landing Huddersfield hot-shot Jordan Rhodes this month. The Hammers have had a bid for the 27-goal striker, believed to be around £3m, rejected by the League One promotion hopefuls.
Pedro: Barcelona forward Pedro will be out for up to 10 days after suffering a leg injury in Thursday’s Copa del Rey victory at Osasuna. The 24-year-old was forced to leave the field during the 2-1 win and tests confirmed he had a muscle strain.
Kameni: Espanyol have agreed to let goalkeeper Carlos Kameni leave, paving the way for him to join Malaga. The 27-year-old Cameroon no.1 joined Espanyol from Le Havre in 2004 and has played more than 200 league games for the Barcelona-based outfit.
Jones: Jermaine Jones’s suspension by the German federation is not expected to prevent him from taking part in a pair of US friendly matches this month. The US will face Venezuela on Jan. 21 and Panama on Jan. 25. The Schalke midfielder was slapped with an eight-week ban for intentionally stepping on the foot of Marco Reus of Bor. M’gladbach last month.
