Pierre Stafrace and Tina Rizzo in a scene from Dwar Menopawsi, Minorenni u Muturi High Speed.

A darkly comic play by Alfred Buttigieg which looks at a Maltese couple as they strive for one last sip of the summer wine opens this month.

For the embittered, depressed Henry, this comes in the intoxicating form of his son’s girlfriend, Fay.

So electrified is he by the sexual passion she arouses in him that the line between reality and delusion blurs and he goes over the edge.

Kate seems happier. A typical middle-class working mother, she seems level-headed and in control. It is, however, a mere front.

Malcolm Galea directs, Pierre Stafrace plays Henry and Angele Galea is Kate.

Dwar Menopawsi is on at St James Cavalier on January 27, 28, 29 and February 3, 4, 5. Bookings: [email protected] or 2122 3200.
