Nationalist MP Franco Debono has refused to comment on the no confidence motion presented by the Labour Party yesterday.
When contacted, Dr Debono said he preferred not to comment on the motion.
Asked whether there were any developments, he replied: “There were absolutely no developments.”
“I hope all this leads people to realise that the country must urgently embark on an important process of constitutional reforms, which must change the political practices and the fundamental institutions of our democracy, including the law governing political parties and party financing,” Dr Debono.
Until this happened, he added, political parties remained the most unregulated bodies at law.
Dr Debono drafted a law on party financing but this was never brought up for discussion. He has ignored calls by the Nationalist Party for him to resign his seat in Parliament.
