Fifteen government properties have been transferred to as many voluntary organisations after a resolution was approved by Parliament’s public accounts committee on Monday.

The NGOs will be leasing the property at reduced prices for about 15 years. Fair Competition Minister Jason Azzopardi tabled the resolution, in line with the government’s commitment to support voluntary organisations.

Among the properties transferred are the former St Michael’s Press, to the Senglea parish church; a house in Sliema to the Salesians; land in Paola to the St John Ambulance Brigade; a windmill in Qormi to the St George the Martyr external festivities committee and property in Għajn Tuffieħa to the Majjistral Nature and History Park.
