La Grande Odyssée sled dog race which began in the French Alps yesterday is one of the toughest competitions of its kind in the world.

Twenty of the world's best sled dog drivers -- known as mushers -- race 300 dogs over 1,000 kilometres of mountain terrain, including 25,000 metres of ascent and descent.
