A three-month ‘Health and Well-Being Campaign’ was recently launched aimed at raising students’ and youths’ awareness about drugs and the risks of drug abuse, healthy lifestyle and to promote dialogue and exchanges of best practice through the media.
The first event of the campaign was held at the Paceville Square, St Julian’s on December 17.
Glow sticks were handed out to passers-by who gave up at least one of their cigarettes, and everyone had the opportunity to take a photo with a picture, such as of a healthy lung or a severely diseased lung after several years of smoking.
All the photos were then posted on the Health and Well-Being Campaign Facebook page and the person in the photo with the highest number of likes was given a six-month gym membership offered by the Malta University Sports Club.
The campaign is organised by the Student Health Committee, which is a health oriented liaison of the University Students’ Council (KSU), Malta Medical Students’ Association, Malta Pharmaceutical Students’ Organisation, Malta Health Students’ Association, Malta University Sports Club, Youth for the Environment, Greenhouse, and Students for Healthy Living.
