The Vittoriosa Lawn Tennis Club (VLTC) have just organised their annual Junior Open, a ranking event played during Yuletide under the auspices of the Malta Tennis Federation and sponsored by NexiaBT.

The U-10 girls singles was won by Martina Demanuele with Mireya Cassar the runner-up while the boys event was won by Liam Delicata who beat David Cardona in the final.

In the U-12 category, the boys singles title went to Miguel Galea who overcame the stiff challenge offered by Benjamin Farrugia 6-3, 7-5 in a thrilling final.

Katrina Sammut retained the U-14 title, beating Rebecca McCarthy 6-2, 6-1 in the final. The boys U-14 singles was won by Mark Schranz. He had the better of Farrugia 6-2, 6-0 in the decisive match.

The Sammut duo, Katrina and Raphael, dominated the U-16 competition.

Katrina made it a double after a 6-2, 6-2 win over McCarthy and her brother Raphael also successfully defended the U-16 boys title, winning the event without dropping a game. He defeated Matthew Cassar Torregiani in straight sets in the final.
