Operations will have to be cancelled on Monday unless blood is donated this weekend, the Blood Bank said this morning.

In an appeal which it has now been running for three days, the bank said that there has been no response to its appeals and the shortage of O types blood was critical.

Anyone who wishes to give blood can visit the clinic in Guardamangia, near St Luke's Hospital, every day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sundays and public holidays included. Donors must present an identification card, weigh at least 50 kilogrammes and be in good health.
