Eight Sliema ASC swimmers formed part of a bountiful Maltese contingent that participated in the Berlin International Meet-ing before Christmas.
The Sliema swimmers registered no fewer than 26 personal best times out of 36 races. Ten-year-old Kristina Fino won two gold medals in her category and broke her own age-group record in the 50m butterfly.
Jordan Calleja, 13, won a bronze medal in the 400m freestyle.
The Berlin meet ended a successful calendar year for the Sliema ASC (www.sliema-asc.org.mt) team after going through a restructuring of the coaching set-up, now made up of Isabelle Zarb, Kevin Casaru, Katya Pace and Emma Ripard.
There was also significant progress in times at the various ASA time-trial meets along the year.
After a short break, the squad is now preparing for the second part of the season which should reach a climax at the Malta International Easter Meet in April and the National Championships in July.
