The 60th and last meeting for 2011 will be held this afternoon at the Marsa Racetrack.

The programme consists of 12 races with the VOB Grand Final for Premier Class trotters the highlight of the day.

This final will be held on a long distance of 2,640m. It will be the 11th race on the card and starts at 5 p.m.

Ten horses will line up for the Grand Final – Malin Roro, Mig of the Wood, Arnie Sensation, Milord Barbes, Nec Carmolo, Utah Hornline, Livi Cantona, Nevaio des Bordes, Kakisis and Joker de Choisel.

The final promises to be a balanced, well-fought race with enthusiasts predicting an interesting tussle between two of the most consistent horses this year – French trotter Mig of the Wood (Noel Baldacchino) and Swedish Livi Cantona (Charles Camilleri).

Earlier this month, Mig of the Wood maintained its positive record by winning the Prix de Vincennes championship for French trotters while Livi Cantona finished first in two other finals for Premier Class trotters this season – the President’s Cup and the Cassar Fuels Championship.

While the owners of Mig of the Wood will be chasing a third win at Marsa, Livi Cantona has already won eight races in 2011.

Special attention will also be devoted to Nevaio des Bordes (Brian Hili) and Malin Roro (Clint Vassallo), both in good form judging by their performances in the last few meetings.

Meanwhile, today’s pro-gramme also comprises three heats and a final from the Pavo Feeds championship for Gold Class trotters.

There will also be races in which horses will be driven by their owners and a flat race on a distance of 1,750m.

The first race, a heat for Gold Class trotters, gets underway at 1.30 p.m.
