Libya, the euro crisis, divorce and Arriva were the main events this year - the year of the Arab spring.
They, and other significant stories, are recalled in the video above.

Just for the record. Mario Felice was never a minister. He was an MP when the Nationalist Party was in Oppostion between 1971 and 1986. He was a shadow minister during that period. It was his father Giovanni who was a minister.

The Libyan crisis is not our making and we had little that we could do.
The euro crisis I assume is caused by what an E.U. statesman said: ''We are now living in a German-dominated Europe - something that the European project was actually supposted to stop.'' Nigel Farage. Today not only Brussels is run by unelected elite technocrats but they are forcing other countries to have non elected elites who in turn they have no one to account too.
As for Divorce and Arriva I keep saying: ''The greatest miracle in this century is the fact that politicians are tolerated.

2011 in Malta is not over yet, by far. There are still two days to end 2011 and tomorrow might be the most significant day of the year for Malta and GonziPN. If Dr Gonzi agrees to the terms of Dr Franco Debono then the politics in Malta will be heavily effected. If Dr Gonzi does not go along with the threats of Dr Debono and Dr Debono goes through with his promise then Dr Gonzi has a huge problem. Dr Franco Debono seems to be riding in the drivers seat. Quo Vadis Franco? This time abstaining is not an option, because if you back off, your word will not be worth much in the political world. You made the bed that you will lay on, you have to decide, what it is that you want. On the other hand I hope there is some kind of compromise between Dr Gonzi and yourself. A lot is at stake for the both of you and the whole country. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

In my humble opinion there’s no way out of this situation. One of them must step down or go down and whoever of the two will be, is likely to lose his face in the public eye.
One should not make promises that can’t be kept.
And one should be more objective in his expectations.

Time is passing.
We are not going to live forever.
We are not getting any younger.
Are we on the right track or are we off ?
Best wishes.

F'din is-sena tghallimt li l-politici huma l-iktar nies opportunisti li jezistu, minhabba l-fatt li dak li qal JPO qabel l-elezzjoni wara mhux talli mar kontra kelmtu imma talli ghamel private members bill bi tradiment ghal min ivvutalu. Tghallimt ukoll dwar l-ipokrezija ta' certu nies li jilghabuha ta nsara fejn jaqbililhom imma ma jsibux problema jghajjru lil isqfijiet taghna, biex jintghogbu mikk-partit taghhom. Tghallimt li l-ewwel kmandament mhux ma jkollokx Alla iehor ghajrek, imma li l-leader tal-partit huwa qabel Alla. L-ipokrezija politika tal-Maltin tisboqq kull talent iehor.

Safrattant, JPO hass il-polz tal-elettorat ferm ahjar min hafna ohrajn fil-PN. JPO hareg ta' veru demokratiku ferm aktar min hafna min shabu fil-PN.
U x'ghandhom x'jaqsmu l-isqfijiet u l-alla li temmen bih int? Harag car li l-maggoranza kbira tal-elettorat, jew m'ghandux fiducja fl-isqfijiet u l-Knisja Kattolika, jew jigi jaqa u jqum minnhom ghax jew ivvota favur id-divorzju jew lanqas biss mar jivvota.
Mela min huma l-ipokriti demokratici?

Sir, may I humbly suggest to take things more calmly. From the tone of your writing you seem very upset. Remember, stress and high blood pressure are two conditions that can do untold harm to the heart and to the overall well being of us humans.

While mentioning all the good and bad news in 2011, I wonder how the best ever good news for Sports in Malta is missing. I am referring to the first ever GOLD MEDAL and the first ever OLYMPIC QUOTA PLACE won by Maltese shooter William Chetcuti in The ISSF World Cup 2011 Beijing. This sounds a little bit odd when considering other Nations are doing their best to promote their Olympic Athletes. A case in point is the airport in Sweden where their Olympic shooter Hakan Dahlby is prominently advertised in all over the place.
So let us all unite for once and support our Olympic Athlete William Chetcuti that will be representing all Maltese Nationals at The LONDON 2012 on the 2nd August 2012.

Very good point Edwin. You would think such an accomplishment would be seen all over the island. All the best to William Chetcuti in the 2012 Olympics.
