Toasting the new year
Italico Rota, General Manager, Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa, will give 2012 a hearty welcome.
What are your prospects for the end of year festivities, given the state of the economy?
I have to say that at the Corinthia Palace Hotel we are not feeling the effect of the current crisis and the pace of reservations and bookings for the festivities is like previous years.
What will be the hotel’s highlight of the festivities?
As always we have many bookings for staff and private parties. We are staging a big party commemorating the 49th anniversary since the Corinthia brand started operating. We will also be having a special ceremony where employees who have been with the company from five to 40 years will be presented with awards. During this event there will be the nomination of the star employee for 2011 from every hotel of the group. We also had a lighting ceremony at the Corinthia Palace to which many of our regular clients, journalists and guests at the hotel were invited. A gala dinner with a few surprising twists was part of this event.
How will you manage to enjoy the festivities with your loved ones if the season of goodwill is also the busiest time for hotels?
My wife and I will be travelling to Germany, and then will be extremely busy for the year’s end festivities and to give the New Year a hearty welcome. We have to go away to spend Christmas with the family as this is our tradition and we hope to continue following it for many more years to come.
