I refer to the news item entitled ‘Bouncers involved in savage beating of Brits’ by Patrick Cooke, which you published on December 18.

Please note that the case mentioned took place and was reported on November 26.

That same day, the alleged victim declared that he did not know who attacked him but would try to recognise the assailant. The foreigner presented a medical certificate indicating that he was suffering from serious injuries. After further investigations, the alleged victim recognised the person the police had suspected.

The suspect, who was interrogated on December 4, denied being in Paceville on the date of the incident. The alleged victim, however, again identified the suspect.

Contrary to what was published in the news item, the alleged assailant is not employed as a bouncer. In fact a 17-year-old person was arraigned and charged with this incident in court last Tuesday.

Editor’s note: The article stated up to 10 people were involved in the incident. It also stated that the club owner himself admitted that a bouncer from another club was involved when the incident started in the women’s toilets.
