President Emeritus Eddie Fenech Adami was discharged from hospital yesterday after he was fitted with a pacemaker on Thursday.
Dr Fenech Adami was hospitalised on Wednesday when he fainted while having lunch at a restaurant with IT Minister Austin Gatt, President Emeritus Ugo Mifsud Bonnici and his son Beppe, among others.
He had earlier attended the funeral of Nationalist MP Francis Zammit Dimech’s mother.
Dr Fenech Adami’s heartbeat weakened, causing him to temporarily lose consciousness. His condition was described as stable and on Thursday doctors decided to fit the 77-year-old former Prime Minister with a pacemaker to control the heartbeat.
The pacemaker intervention went well but Dr Fenech Adami was kept overnight at Mater Dei Hospital for observation.
He returned home yesterday morning, just in time for Christmas, according to his son Beppe.
