Court hears of knife threat in fight between brothers

A man was yesterday accused of threatening his brother with a knife.

Stefan Esposito, 24, of Żabbar, attacked his brother, Alexander, with a knife on Thursday evening at the house they share with their parents, Police Inspector Robert Sarreo said.

The fight was the climax of a long-standing dispute between the brothers, which was not helped by the fact that the accused had a sharp tongue and would pass comments provoking his sibling, the officer said.

The family, he added, did not want him around because of his behaviour.

Legal aid lawyer Cedric Mifsud told Magistrate Audrey Demicoli that his client’s brother was to blame because he had moved back in with his parents.

He asked why his client should be the one to move out of the house when his brother was the one causing all the problems.

Magistrate Demicoli remanded Mr Esposito in custody.
