Transport Malta’s Sa Maison and licensing offices were evacuated yesterday after the police received a bomb threat, 21 days from the first anniversary of an explosion at the same offices that seriously injured a traffic expert.

Sa Maison Hill was closed to traffic and the Armed Forces of Malta’s bomb disposal unit was called in to search the area.

Sources said no explosives were found and neither the police nor the army made any official statements.

A year ago, on December 2, a bomb that had been dangled outside the office window of Konrad Pulè, the chief officer of land transport, went off while a meeting was taking place. Mr Pulè had escaped unhurt but his colleague, Major Peter Ripard, 75, lost a leg.

The crime remains unsolved.
