Obituary
AZZOPARDI. On December 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARIA ASSUNTA, (ex-teacher), aged 97, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sisters Sr Madalena of Jesus of Nazareth, Żejtun, Ersilia and her husband Malcolm Tranter, Joan and her husband Roy Sharples, Frances Camilleri, her brothers Moses and his wife Lora, Valentino, nephews and nieces. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.15 a.m. for St Publius parish church, Floriana, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m. followed by interment at Gudja cemetery. Lord grant her eternal rest.
CARUANA. On December 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANNA MARIA of Rabat, aged 87, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Joseph and his wife Avril, Pauline and her husband Mike Adams, Agatha and her husband Felix Saliba, Anthony and his wife Josephine, Charles and his wife Evelyn, Mario and his wife Tessie, Anna and her husband Vince Abdilla, her grandchildren Michelle, Deirdre, Richard, Karen, Brendan, Stefan, Maria, Lisa, Andrew, Alex, Saviour, Maryjo, Mark and Sara, her brothers Pawlu and Kristinu, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.30 p.m. for Ta’ Ġieżu church, Rabat, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Dingli cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, or Inspire, Marsascala, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
GRECH. LUCY, née Gauci de Candia, passed peacefully away in her sleep, comforted by the rites of Holy Church, after a long illness fought with great courage and endurance. She leaves to mourn her great loss her beloved husband Alex, her loving children Mark, Christopher, Marianne, Sara and Rebecca and Andrew, her grandchildren Rachel, Kyra, Benjamin, Semira, Hannah, Rommel, Sebastian, Sacha, Alexia and Katia, her great-grandchildren, her dear brother Georges and his wife Josette, her loving sister Evelyn and her husband Brian Hennerley, her sister-in-law Melita, her nephews and nieces, her in-laws, and numerous friends, particularly her Rummy friends, so close to her heart. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Lucy knew what true love is, what it really means. She taught us to forget ourselves and think of others, always. Kind, considerate, generous and altruistic, she was a ready listener, full of humane understanding, spreading happiness and peace around her. Vanity and ostentation were not in her dictionary but she was elegant in her simplicity, showing that less is more. Her life was so meaningful, showering love and sympathy to all. And this love and goodness will long remain in our midst, with her maxim “Love overcomes everything” living on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Farewell, sweet angel, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend.
MANGION. On December 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, LEONARD (Dwardu), aged 86, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Rose, his sons Ray and his wife Marilyn and Olvin and his wife Marie, his grandchildren, Arlette, Elise and Elaine and other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for St Gregory’s parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Ursuline Crèche Fund, Sliema, will be appreciated. The family would like to thank all the staff at Roseville Home, Attard, for their care and dedication during his stay there, and also, the staff of the Urology 2 Unit for their much appreciated care and attention, Regretfully, the family are unable to receive visitors. Water Pressure Problem In Ħamrun
A problem of low water pressure is affecting the supply in Mile End, Ħamrun, and Żerafa Road, Marsa. The Water Services Corporation is working to restore the service as quickly as possible. For information call 8007 2222, which is available 24 hours a day.
2011 Stamp Sets In Year Pack
The Maltapost Year Pack, covering all issues for 2011, will be issued today and contains all the eight stamp sets in mint condition issued this year, namely: Treasures of Malta Landscapes, WWF 50th Anniversary, Europa Forests, Malta Buses – The End Of An Era, Maritime Malta, Malta – Iceland Joint Issue 2011 – Fishing Villages, Christmas 2011, 90th Anniversary Malta Senate and Legislative Assembly.
The publication will be available at all post offices in Malta and Gozo, from the mobile post office and from the philatelic bureau.
