The condition of the passenger involved in an accident in Valletta yesterday evening has improved and he is no longer in danger, the police said this morning.

Five people were involved in the accident in Great Siege Road, Valletta, at around 9 p.m.

A silver Maruti 800 driven by a 33-year-old man from Pieta and a grey Honda Civic driven by a 59-year-old man from Valletta crashed head-on.

The Honda Civic driver was accompanied by a 54-year-old woman, also from Valletta, who suffered grievous injuries.

A 64-year-old man who was a passenger in the Maruti was in danger of losing his life for some time but his condition has now improved. Another passenger, an 18-year-old man from Birkirkara, was slightly injured.

A parked yellow Hyundai Accent was also damaged.

Earlier, at around 5.15 p.m. a man from Mgarr was injured in a traffic accident in Mgarr.
