Kombouare: Paris SG sports director Leonardo has informed club manager Antoine Kombouare that he has been fired, a source close to the coach said. “Antoine was informed he was being sacked today by Leonardo,” the source said, adding that the manager’s assistants were also being fired.
Skibbe: Hertha Berlin yesterday confirmed the appointment of Michael Skibbe as their new coach. The 46-year-old has moved from Eskirsehirspor and will replace Markus Babbel, who was sacked at the weekend after a fall-out with general manager Michael Preetz.
Manzano: Atletico Madrid fired coach Gregorio Manzano yesterday after a miserable run capped off by their elimination from the King’s Cup. Manzano had apologised to fans after Atletico lost 0-1 at home to second division Albacete on Wednesday, ushering them ignominiously out of the King’s Cup, describing it as a “real failure”.
