The Housing Authority will early next year be issuing a call for voluntary organisations that wish to develop assisted accommodation to help vulnerable people embark on independent living.

Such people would include the mentally ill, the homeless, youths in children's homes, victims of domestic violence and disabled people who are willing not to continue to rely on social assistance.

The authority will be funding the capital expenditure. If the project costs more than €50,000, the HA has to be represented on the organisation's project governing body.
