Middlesea Insurance plc president and chief executive officer Alfredo Muñoz recently briefed tied insurance intermediaries and brokers on latest developments within the company and future plans.
The meeting served to acquaint Mr Muñoz with key members of Middlesea Insurance’s distribution channel and as a way to familiarise them with the Mapfre Group, the Floriana-based insurance company’s majority shareholder.
He introduced the new management team, including vice-president corporate services Chris Borg, and vice president operations Anne Marie Tabone. The chief executive explained future strategic developments and outlined details on new products and services currently being developed.
Mr Muñoz later focused on Mapfre Group’s financial performance and its global positioning. As at July 2011, Mapfre generated revenues of over €20.4 billion and premiums exceeded €17 billion. It employs around 38,000 people, operates 5,350 branches and has more than 70,000 agents and brokers. It has a customer base of 20 million and 177 million beneficiaries.
