Punch-up confession

A Briton was yesterday conditionally discharged for three years after a punch-up with another man in Paceville on Friday night.

Anthony Freeman, 25, pleaded guilty to seriously injuring another man and to breaking the man’s glasses and breaching the peace.

Appearing before Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona, Mr Freeman apologised for his actions. He assumed responsibility and agreed to pay all damages.

Police Inspector Luke Bonello prosecuted.

Lawyer Stefano Filletti appeared for Mr Freeman.

In a separate arraignment, 27-year-old Alan Azzopardi was placed under probation for three years after he pleaded guilty to stealing fuel from a crane at about 1.30 a.m. on Saturday in Marsascala.

Mr Azzopardi, of Qormi, also pleaded guilty to causing up to €23 worth of damage. Police Inspector Tony Cachia prosecuted.
