The deafening sound of crunching metal and revving engines are usually not associated with Christmas cheer unless the aim is raising money for charity. About 29 colourfully painted battered cars, destined for the scrapyard, crashed against each other yesterday during a demolition derby organised by the Autocross Association to raise money for L-Istrina. Rain pelted the wrecked vehicles on the muddy Ta’ Qali track as competitors fought to remain the last standing in what looked like an apocalyptic scene from a movie.
