Luxury weekend break for ramblers

Members of the Malta Ramblers’ Association enjoyed a weekend luxury Christmas break at the Radisson Blu resort in Golden Bay recently.

Members, old and new, went on several walks together during the weekend.

The first place they visited on their walks was the Elysium plant nursery run by the GAIA Foundation. Native flowers, shrubs and trees are reared there for replanting around the islands. A GAIA employee named Carmen answered the questions of the curious ramblers.

Later, they were given a guided tour of the Skorba and Ta’ Ħaġrat temples by an archaeological graduate from Heritage Malta.

They also went on a guided walk in Majjestral National Park. They were met at the old barracks used by British forces by naturalist Annalise Falzon, who told the ramblers about the flora and other cultural features in the area.

Quiz nights followed buffet dinners on both evenings. ‘Tea for two at the Radisson’ vouchers were donated by the hotel for the winners.
