International music festival

An international music festival featuring musicians in the field of classical, folk, jazz and new music will be held next summer.

Entitled the Violin and Friends International, the festival’s aim is to offer a platform for classical and new music and to show-case its origins and pioneers, to support young musicians by making it possible for them to present their work to a wider audience.

Artists from Japan, China, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Ukraine and the US will be performing at the festival which will be held from June 24 to July 8.

The VFIMF is collaborating with the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, the Lviv State Music Academy (Ukraine) and Scuola Civica Musicale Città di San Giovanni Teatino (Italy).

In addition to the festival, there will also be master classes with professional artists and teachers from Europe, Asia and the US for piano, violin, cello, flute, chamber music and composition held between June 24 and July 3. Students who show excellent skill may even be invited to perform during the festival.

There will also be a music competition between July 4 and July 8. The prize-giving and finalists concert will be held at the Manoel Theatre in Valletta.
