Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has dismissed talk of a title tilt and pointed to recent history that suggests the club’s unbeaten start should not be cause for elation.
Juve lead Udinese on goal difference after remaining unbeaten in 14 matches.
But Buffon says this isn’t the first time in recent years that the club has started well and yet they finished seventh in the last two seasons.
“It’s risky talking about the title, leading the league is just something temporary that’s lasted 14 games,” said Buffon.
“At this time last year we were also close to the top but we didn’t even qualify for Europe.”
The French press have speculated Juve are interested in signing Manchester City rebel Carlos Tevez.
However, Buffon would be wary of welcoming a player who has caused problems before at his clubs.
“I don’t know if he would raise the bar if he joined Juventus, we’re covered up front and I don’t know what problems he might have,” he said.
